Interplanetary Shock (or CME Arrival)
Catalog: M2M_CATALOG
Location: Earth
Event Time: 2024-11-14T03:32Z ( DSCOVR: PLASMAG )
All Detecting Spacecrafts:
DSCOVR: PLASMAG
ACE: SWEPAM
ACE: MAG
Activity ID: 2024-11-14T03:32:00-IPS-001 (version 2)
Quality of ICME Signature: 1 (lacks some signatures)
Note: Characterized by an increase in solar wind speed from ~300 km/s at 2024-11-14T03:32Z to ~431 km/s at 06:09Z. Additionally, an increase in temperature and an amplification of magnetic field components was observed with Btotal increasing from 8nT to 13nT at 05:33Z. This signature may be associated with the arrival of CME: 2024-11-14T01:23Z and/or a coronal hole high speed stream from a wide coronal hole centered near latitude N25 which reached the central meridian on 2024-11-09. This signature was preceded by a more minor arrival first seen by ACE/DSCOVR starting around 2024-11-13T10:23Z which was characterized by an increase in Btotal from ~5nT to ~9nT and a corresponding increase is solar wind speed from ~330 km/s to 360 km/s.
